Frequently Asked Questions
Audience Questions
How much do the shows cost?
Shows are pay-what-you-can at the exit. We recommend 12 euros/person. We understand that some people are students or struggling financially - don’t let it stop you from attending! Kindly let us know the amount you are able to afford.
You can also support us by leaving a 5-star review and telling your friends!
Please note our venues have a 1 drink purchase minimum (non-alcoholic is fine). This money goes to the establishment and NOT to Coucou Comedy and does not count as payment for the show.
Do I need to make a booking?
Yes please! Even though bookings are free sometimes the shows sell out. We also track bookings to know how many people to expect and determine how many seats to setup, if we need to do more advertising, etc.
Please cancel your booking if you can no longer attend!
How can I cancel my booking?
Go to https://www.eventbrite.com/mytickets . Click on the revlevant event, then click “Cancel Order”.
You can also e-mail us at Coucoucomedy@gmail.com (it’s helpful to mention the number of tickets).
The show says “sold out” - can I still attend?
You can try! There are often “no-shows” or late arrivals. We can put you on stand-by and we will give away unclaimed seats 10-15 minutes before the show starts.
Also there are often tickets released from cancellations on the day of the show so keep checking back!
What time should I arrive?
We recommend at least 15 minutes before the show starts. This gives you time to grab a drink and find a seat so you don’t disrupt the start of the show. (For most of our shows, doors open at 8pm and the show starts at 8:30pm, but double check the Event description).
Late entry is not guaranteed. If the show is sold-out we give away unclaimed seats 15 minutes before the show starts.
Can I attend solo? Will the comedians make fun of me?
You can absolutely attend alone! If you’d like to try to find people to attend with, check out our MeetUp group.
Coucou Comedy has a friendly atmosphere, and I - as the host - won’t talk to you if you tell me not to. I only lightly tease audience members - I can’t guarantee what the other comics decide to do (but I try not to book jerks!). The best way to avoid interactions is to arrive early and grab a seat in the back.
Are the shows wheelchair accessible?
Unfortunately our venue has a staircase to the room where the show takes place.
Can children attend?
No - due to the content of our shows and since they take place in bars we only allow adults (18+) to attend. We don’t want to scar your child or have disruptions for the comedians.
How do I find my favorite comedians from the show I attended?
Comedians are usually tagged in a story or post before/after the show on our Instagram page @coucoucomedy . If you can’t find them - you can message us describing the comedian and the date of the show you attended and we will help!
How can I perform on the show?
Head over to “Perform” and fill out the application form.
The showtime, spot length, and venue address are mentioned in the sub-headings of the form.
When will I receive confirmation that i’m booked on a show?
Bookings are usually confirmed around the end of each month for the entire following month via an Instagram group message. Make sure you are following @coucoucomedy on Instagram or check your message requests!
For shows during the first week of the month, I try to confirm at least one week prior. For the rest of the month, I may confirm during the first week. For visiting comedians, I try to process your application in advance to allow for adequate travel planning, but usually not more than one month in advance.
Will I be notified if I am not booked?
Unfortunately the volume of applications is too high to send out negative responses. If you haven’t received a confirmation within the notice period described above, you likely have not been booked.
You may be contacted outside with shorter notice in case of a drop-out on a show.
Why wasn’t I booked?
Competition is high for spots! If you applied after the start of the month it may be that the spots are are all filled, but you may be considered in the event of a drop-out.
Are shows paid?
Yes! Shows are paid from tips after show-running costs have been subtracted. Therefore the payment amount varies based on audience attendance and generosity at each show.
I want to put on a solo show in Paris - Can I use your venue and can you help me produce it?
Coucou Comedy does not manage a venue - please contact venues directly.
I usually do not produce solo shows - I may make an exception if you already have a large European following. Myself and others have observed that it is harder to fill rooms in Paris than other European capitals.
Where else can I perform in Paris?
I made a page just for comics containing quick-links to apply for every English comedy show in Paris.
I cannot keep up with the schedules/venues of each show so that information is not included. If you want to double-up on shows, be sure to check the locations/timings of each spot to ensure you can do both and inform show-runners in advance.
I want to try standup comedy - Are there open mics in Paris?
Yes! Please note they require prior sign-up & confirmation. You can find the shows with open mics and quick links to apply to perform HERE (scroll down).
At this time Coucou Comedy only books comedians with prior experience performing English standup comedy.
